Pornografia

Pornografia sau porno este descrierea explicită a subiectului sexual cu unica intenţie de excitare sexuală a privitorului. Pâmă la o anumită limită este similară cu erotica, respectiv folosirea imageriei sexuale. În ultimele decade, s-a dezvoltat o imensă industrie pentru producerea şi consumul pornografiei, ajutată şi de apariţia VCR, DVD şi Internet, ca şi de atitudinea socială mai tolerantă faţă de descrierile sexuale. Artiştii din pronografie sunt numiţi actori (sau actriţe) pronografici sau, mai obişnuit, “staruri porno”, şi sunt percepuţi în general diferit din punct de vedere calitativ faţă de ceilalţi actori.
Pornografia poate folosi oricare media: literatura scrisă, fotografii, pictura, desenul, animaţia, sunetul, filmul, video, sau jocurile video. Oricum, în cazul unui act sexual în curs destinat unei audienţe în direct, acesta nu este considerat pornografie; termenul se aplică descrierii actului, mai degrabă decât actului în sine. Astfel, spectacolele sexuale sau cele de striptease nu sunt considerate pornografii.
În cele mai multe ţări pornografia este tratată ca o entitate separată, atât cultural cât şi legal.
